Kansas basketball vs. Texas Tech: Three keys to victory
Second Key: Interrupting the Texas Tech offense
According to KenPom, Texas Tech is seventh in the nation at assists per field goal. The Red Raiders record an assist on 64.1 percent of their field goals, compared to the current national average of 51.7 percent. Kansas basketball will have to do a good job of disrupting the ball flow that Chris Beard preaches.
The good news is that the Kansas defense is one of the best in the nation according to KenPom.
The Jayhawks are No. three in the country in defense, and they’ve held their last three opponents to an average of 57 points. Like almost every other team in the Big 12, KenPom rates Kansas as a defense dependent team. They should be able to hold the Red Raider offense to under 60 points, and the Kansas offense is usually good enough to get at least 65 points.
Jahmi’us Ramsey is currently leading Texas Tech in points per game with about 15. The freshman from Texas is shooting over 39 percent from behind the arc, so the Jayhawks will have to close out and not let him get any clean looks, or things could get ugly.
Junior Davide Moretti is also a major part of the Red Raider offense. He shoots over 37 percent from deep and was a major contributor in Texas Tech’s Big 12 title season and Final Four run last year.
