Kansas basketball vs. Texas Tech: Three keys to victory
Kansas basketball is on a winning streak, but they have a tough matchup this weekend against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Here are three keys to victory for the Jayhawks.
Kansas basketball is coming off a dominating win over Oklahoma State last Monday night. It was the final game the Jayhawks will have to play without David McCormack, so they’ll essentially be full strength this Saturday when they take on Texas Tech.
Of course, Kansas will still be without Silvio De Sousa who still has 10 games left until he can play for the Jayhawks again. De Sousa wasn’t a major part of the rotation before his suspension though, so for all intents and purposes, the offense is back to normal.
In the latest AP Poll, the Jayhawks held steady at No. three; however, Texas Tech dropped out of the rankings after an overtime home loss to Kentucky. It’s the second loss in a row for the Red Raiders, who also got beat by TCU last week. Still, Texas Tech has an incredible coach in Chris Beard, so they can’t be taken lightly despite their 3-3 record in the Big 12 this season.
Kansas basketball currently leads the all-time series against Texas Tech 35-6, including an 18-1 record in Allen Fieldhouse. Last season, Kansas split their series with the Red Raiders, winning 79-63 at home, and getting blown out 91-62 on the road later in the season. Texas Tech would go on to capture their first-ever Big 12 title.
While they’re still one of the better teams in the conference this season, it doesn’t look like the Red Raiders are going to be able to repeat.
