Starting corner Corione Harris has been suspended indefinitely by Kansas football and Les Miles following two felony charges.

This hasn’t been a great week for Kansas football or basketball. The Jayhawks just lost one of their best players on the gridiron, Corione Harris. First reported by Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star, the cornerback was arrested and charged in Missouri with two felonies that included being in possession of a firearm and a controlled substance.

This isn’t the first time Harris has had problems with the law though, as he was arrested for a failure to appear from a speeding ticket back in October last year.

This isn’t good for the Jayhawks, obviously. Head coach Les Miles has suspended Harris indefinitely, and he probably won’t play another game at Kansas depending on what happens in court on February 10.

Here’s what Miles had to say on the issue via the Kansas City Star:

"“We are aware of the charges involving Corione Harris, and have suspended him indefinitely from all team-related activities.”"

Possibly the worst part about this is how much talent and promise Harris showed. Out of high school, Harris was a four-star recruit from New Orleans, Louisiana. He had multiple other offers on the table including LSU, Auburn, Texas, and Oklahoma. Harris chose Kansas football and joined the Jayhawks in the class of 2018.

He would start in nine games as a freshman, and six as a sophomore before missing the final three games of the season due to an injury. Harris easily could have been a four-year starter for the Jayhawks, but now it looks like we may never know.

Whether he continues to play at Kansas or goes to another school, hopefully, Harris’ football career isn’t over.
