3. Dru Prox, Junior/Senior LB

Dru Prox was in the midst of a great season leading the Jayhawks in tackles before injuring his shoulder in the fifth game of the season against the Mountaineers. Prox wouldn’t see the field again in 2019, and the status of his medical redshirt is still pending.

If he receives the redshirt, Prox would still have two years left of eligibility; however, if the NCAA doesn’t grant it, 2020 would be Prox’s final season. Whatever gets decided, Prox is going to be huge for the Jayhawks in 2020.

When he went down for his injury, the difference was immediately noticeable. The Kansas defense just wasn’t as good without Prox, plain and simple. Freshman linebacker Gavin Potter was thrust into the starting role to replace Prox, and while Potter played well at times, he was no Dru Prox.

Had Prox not been hurt, he more than likely would have led the Jayhawks in tackles, he finished ninth on the team despite only playing about five and a half games, which is pretty incredible. Look for Prox to not only lead Kansas football in tackles next season but also be one of the best linebackers in the Big 12.
