5. Perry Ellis, Kansas basketball 2012-2016

Wichita, Kansas native Perry Ellis started playing at Kansas a little after James Naismith was hired… just kidding of course, but it sure felt like it.

Ellis had an incredible career at Kansas that felt like forever.

He’s ninth in all-time points scored at Kansas with 1,798 over his four years. Ellis was also an integral part of Kansas basketball since the moment he stepped on campus, averaging 12.5 points over his four seasons.

Ellis was a two-time first-team All-Big 12 selection, an AP honorable mention All-American in 2015 and a consensus second-team All-American in 2016. He was also a Wooden Award finalist in 2016. In his senior year, Ellis averaged 16.9 and 5.6 rebounds per game, leading the Jayhawks to an Elite Eight appearance.

Perry Ellis would go undrafted and end up playing overseas after a short stint in the NBA D-League. He’s currently an assistant coach on Bill Self’s staff at Kansas.
