2. Kansas football vs. Colorado, 2010

Kansas football was on a four-game losing streak when they took on Colorado at home in early November. This game wasn’t looking any different, as Colorado had a commanding 35-10 at halftime.

According to Linebacker Steven Johnson, head coach Turner Gill gave one heck of a halftime speech, that included “You all need to come out here and get ready for the best comeback ever.” The Jayhawks still didn’t respond immediately.

Even at the beginning of the fourth quarter, Kansas was still down 45-17, then the unthinkable happened.

The Jayhawks rattled off an incredible 35 unanswered points in the final eleven minutes of the game to win 52-45. It’s still the largest comeback victory in Kansas football history.

Running back James Sims was the hero for Kansas. He rushed for four touchdowns on the day, three of which came in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Quinn Mecham played just good enough for Kansas to win, going 23-of-28 for 252 yards, two touchdowns, and also two interceptions.

Where are all the “Colorado blew a 45-17 lead” jokes at anyway?
