4. Kansas football vs. #15 Georgia Tech, 2010

The week before, Kansas football lost an embarrassing season opener 3-6 to North Dakota State. It wasn’t the start head coach Turner Gill was looking for with the Jayhawks, and things weren’t going to be any easier the following week with fifteenth ranked Georgia Tech coming to Lawrence.

The game was back and forth with Kansas and Georgia Tech trading punches throughout the first half. The Yellow Jackets went into halftime with a 14-17 lead, but it was still anybody’s ball game.

The Jayhawks would pull ahead 17-28 in the fourth quarter, and then hold off a Georgia Tech comeback to win the game 28-25. This was Kansas’ most recent win over a ranked opponent.

Kansas quarterback Jordan Webb finished with three touchdown passes and 179 yards on the day while running back James Sims led the Jayhawks in rushing yards with 101 and a touchdown of his own.

It’s amazingly sad that this was Kansas football’s latest win over a ranked opponent, as it just goes to show the state of the program over the past decade. Still, this isn’t the only win from the 2010 season on this list.
