Full Preview: Final game of the season will be telling for KU’s future

Kansas football is coming off of a hard-fought loss on the road against Iowa State. The Jayhawks fell to the Cyclones 41-31, but this Kansas team proved that it wasn’t just a pushover.

Kansas quarterback Carter Stanley had a strong showing, throwing for 328 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. This will be the senior’s final game with the Jayhawks, and he’ll go down as one of the best quarterbacks since Todd Reesing. On the ground, sophomore running back Pooka Williams picked up 154 yards in addition to a receiving touchdown.

The Kansas defense struggled to get pressure on Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy who carved up the Jayhawks for 372 yards and four touchdowns. The front seven didn’t record a single sack and only hurried Purdy twice.

Baylor is coming off of an impressive 24-10 win over in-state rival Texas. QB Charlie Brewer threw for 221 yards and a touchdown, and he also scored a touchdown on the ground. Wide receiver Denzel Mims had a big game too with 125 yards and a touchdown on the night.

Interestingly, both Baylor and Texas had the same amount of total offensive yards (391); however, Texas was penalized nine times for 104 yards.

The bottom line is that the Baylor Bears are one of the best teams in the country. They’re number nine in the nation according to the College Football Playoff Rankings, and it’s going to take a miraculous performance for the Jayhawks to win.

Kansas football does have some momentum from last week though. The offense looked pretty good once it got going, and the Jayhawks are certainly going to need their offense against the Bears.

Baylor ranks second in the Big 12 in total defense, but the Bears are beatable. It’s going to take a tremendous effort, but it’s possible.

KU HOOPS. Consistency is key for the Jayhawks this season. light

This will be many Jayhawks’ final game, and although they never made their bowl game, this class fought hard. Hopefully, in a few years, they’ll be able to say they were part of one of the greatest turnarounds in college football history.
