Kansas football fans should be thankful for Carter Stanley

Maybe not one you expected to see on here, but hear me out. Carter Stanley is one of the greatest Jayhawks in the past decade and yet he doesn’t get nearly enough credit from Kansas football fans.

First of all, Stanley was the starting quarterback for two of the greatest wins in the past decade.

In 2016, the Texas Longhorns came to Lawrence looking for an easy win over the struggling Kansas Jayhawks. Little did they know that one of the greatest and funniest wins in Kansas football history would take place.

The Jayhawks would end up taking down the Longhorns 24-21 on a game-winning kick. It was the first time Kansas had beat Texas since before World War II.

The second game came this season when the Jayhawks took a road trip to take on the Boston College Eagles. Kansas was a massive underdog, and not expected to even compete against Boston College, but Stanley silenced the doubters. He finished with 238 yards and three touchdowns on the night.

Other than those two impressive victories, Carter Stanley also holds multiple Kansas football records. He’s second all-time in touchdown passes and he’s third in single-season passing touchdowns.

Stanley is also fifth in all-time passing yards and has an opportunity this week against Baylor to move into fourth.

The bottom line is that Kansas football fans should be thankful on this Thanksgiving for Carter Stanley and his contributions to the program.
