Kansas Jayhawks: Four things fans can be thankful for on Thanksgiving
Jayhawks fans should be thankful the Border War is back (for basketball)
After the final Border War battle between Kansas and Missouri in 2012, the series took a hiatus when the Tigers left the Big 12 for the SEC. Now, the famous rivalry between the two schools is set to return during the 2020-21 basketball season.
Despite excitement from both fanbases, there’s still a contingent of Kansas basketball fans that are upset about the Jayhawks scheduling Missouri.
The argument is that by playing Missouri, Kansas has nothing to gain and everything to lose, which isn’t necessarily wrong.
However, it’s weird that the fans that are upset about the Border War being brought back aren’t also upset about the Jayhawks playing Colorado this year, or any other school from a reputable conference.
Ultimately, bringing back the Border War could help Kansas basketball pick up another quality win once the Tigers get a little better.
The Border War is exciting, fun for fans, and it’s something that’s woven into the fabric of both Kansas’ and Missouri’s sports programs. Bringing it back was absolutely the right call, and Kansas Jayhawks fans should be thankful that the Border War is back.
Maybe in the future, we’ll get the football game back too…
