Kansas football got boat raced this afternoon by #22 Oklahoma State 31-13. It was a disappointing game for the Jayhawks, and it killed all of the momentum the program had built up.

Kansas football has proved something in its past two games: the Jayhawks still have a long way to go until they’re competing with the best or even the average of the Big 12.

The Jayhawk offense seems to only have two modes.

One version is high-flying, fun to watch, and puts up points on the board. It totaled over 500 yards against Texas and Texas Tech and had fans optimistic for the short and long-term future.

The other version looks like the Kansas football that fans have become accustomed to; totally inept, humiliating, and just all-around bad.

Guess which offense we saw today against Oklahoma State?

The Kansas passing game struggled today, as three different quarterbacks each threw an interception. Primary quarterback Carter Stanley was 22-37 for 226 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

The Jayhawks’ rushing attack was just as inept, totaling a rotten 39 yards on the day. Pooka Williams led Kansas with 26 of the 39 yards.

On the other side of the ball, Oklahoma State racked up 481 yards on the day and probably could have gone for 600 hundred if head coach Mike Gundy wouldn’t have called off the dogs.

Cowboys quarterback Spencer Sanders threw for 168 yards and one touchdown. It was Sanders’ first game of the season against a power five conference team without an interception.

Even phenom running back Chuba Hubbard didn’t totally destroy the Jayhawks. He picked up 122 yards and two touchdowns, with his longest run only being 18 yards.

light. Hot. KU Hoops: Monmouth dunk at the end of the game was comical

Kansas football can’t continue to lose games like this. Nobody expected the Jayhawks to win, but being totally uncompetitive is unacceptable and makes the program look bad to fans, and more importantly potential recruits.

Les Miles has a lot of work to do in Lawrence, hopefully, it will end up getting done.
