Kansas football must eliminate the “big play”

Chuba Hubbard has been beating teams on big runs all year-long.

He’s had six games this season with runs 30 yards or farther, and five games with runs fifty yards or farther.

His longest run so far this season was last week in the Cowboys’ 34-27 win over the TCU Horned Frogs. In that game, Hubbard had a game-changing 92-yard touchdown run:

Hubbard can change the course of the game in just one explosive run; he’s done it all season and the Jayhawks have to contain his big-play ability.

Kansas football can and probably will give up over 100 yards to Hubbard, but as long as his longest run stays in the thirties or better yet the twenties, it may help stall out the Cowboy offense on a drive or two.

This is a tough but winnable game for the Jayhawks, and it will take a team effort. The offense has to come out and start fast, something it hasn’t been able to do recently.

The defense has to try its best to find an answer for Chuba Hubbard, or at least limit the damage he does.
