The Jayhawks pulled off a huge win over Texas Tech in the final seconds of the game thanks to a Liam Jones field goal from 32 yards out. The Kansas football highlights from the game are just as amazing as the game itself.

Kansas football pulled off a season and program defining win against Texas Tech yesterday. It was a great win, accompanied by some great plays by the Jayhawks.

Carter Stanley was the big man for Kansas football. The senior threw for 415 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Wide receiver Stephon Robinson Jr. also had a major impact, racking up six receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns (or three, depending on who you talk to).  Kicker Liam Jones was the hero though. Jones hit the game-winning field goal as time expired to Kansas football it’s first Big 12 win of the season.

So, here are the Kansas football highlights from the Jayhawks’ 34-37 homecoming victory over Texas Tech:

It just can’t be stated enough: that was a huge win for Kansas football, especially going into next week against Kansas State.

Despite the win though, some problems still remain. Special teams have been an issue for the Jayhawks for the past two weeks, with four field goals or PATs blocked between the two games. The Jayhawks must have a reliable PAT/field goal unit if they want to win, so there may be some imminent changes made to that unit.

The best part though was that Brent Dearmon’s offensive unit proved that the Texas game wasn’t a fluke. The Jayhawks picked up 527 yards of total offense, similar to the week before when they totaled 569 yards. The Jayhawks have also averaged 43 points per game with Dearmon as their offensive coordinator. While it may be a small sample size, it seems that Dearmon is truly the real deal.

Next week, Kansas will take on their in-state rival Kansas State in the annual Sunflower Showdown. It’s another winnable game for the Jayhawks, but the Wildcats are coming off of a massive win over Oklahoma. It should be a fun one in Lawrence, especially if Kansas can find a way to win two in a row.
