The Jayhawks will win the Big 12

You probably saw this coming. There’s no team in the Big 12 that can match Kansas basketball’s talent and depth. To illustrate, David McCormack will be coming off the bench this year, but would more than likely start at any other program in the conference.

Also, Mitch Lightfoot who played a huge role last season for Kansas after Azubuike’s injury will probably redshirt this season. There just isn’t anywhere for the senior to play, and he would have a much better chance at seeing significant minutes next season.

Looking at the rest of the Big 12, only two other teams were ranked in the Preseason AP Poll: Texas Tech at number 13 and Baylor at 16. No other teams in the conference even received votes. As always, the Big 12 will be a shootout, with the seven other teams being almost completely unpredictable at this point. 1. Kansas – Kansas

2. Baylor – Baylor

3. Texas Tech – Texas Tech

4. Texas – Iowa State

5. West Virginia – Oklahoma

6. Oklahoma State – West Virginia

7. Iowa State – Texas

8. Oklahoma – Oklahoma State

9. Kansas State- Kansas State

10. TCU – TCU

If last year’s team can go undefeated at home, this year’s squad can too. The only problem for last year’s team was that they had trouble playing anywhere not named “Allen Fieldhouse.” Kansas struggled to win on the road last season, but with the senior leadership of Udoka Azubuike, Isaiah Moss, and possibly Mitch Lightfoot, the Jayhawks should be able to run through their Big 12 schedule.
