During the annual Late Night in the Phog event, Ochai Agbaji looked impressive throughout the Kansas basketball scrimmage. The sophomore Jayhawk is set to have another huge year after a breakout season in 2018.

After getting his redshirt pulled midway through the season in 2018, Ochai Agbaji provided a massive spark to that Kansas basketball squad. This year, Agbaji will look to be a leader on a team that has the potential to win a national title.

Last Friday night, Kansas basketball hosted its annual Late Night in the Phog event to much scrutiny regarding Snoop Dogg’s performance.

Before all that though, Bill Self took the court to tell the fans their expectations should be extremely high this year. Once the scrimmage began though, Kansas basketball fans got their first look at the 2019-20 team that Self has so much praise for.

While the scrimmage isn’t a true game, it does give a glimpse into what the team may look like this season, and Ochai Agbaji seemed very impressive, among others.

Anyone that watched Kansas last season noticed Agbaji’s raw athleticism, and while he wasn’t a bad shooter, becoming a more complete player would certainly help is game. Agbaji shot 45% from the field and 30% from behind the three-point line last season in the 22 games he played.

At Late Night, Agbaji looked good, going 2-4 from three including a beautiful step back from behind the arc. If he can combine his athleticism with consistently great shooting, Agbaji could easily be a first-round draft selection in 2020.

As a matter of fact, many outlets already have Agbaji as a probable first-round pick in their mock drafts. Yardbarker, CBS Sports, and Sports Illustrated all have Agbaji going in the first.

The best part is that Ochai will have all season to improve his stock. It seems like he’s already been working on his jumper, now he just needs to prove it on the court this season.

Ochai Agbaji was a blast to watch last season for Kansas basketball fans. His great personality and explosive plays on the court made him one of the most likable Jayhawks on the team. If anyone deserves a shot in the NBA, it’s Ochai Agbaji.
