Kansas football will take on Oklahoma this weekend on national TV, and it probably won’t be pretty. The odds of the Jayhawks beating the Sooners are long, but nothing is impossible, right?
Heading into today, Kansas football is a 34.5 point underdog to number six Oklahoma. That’s an extremely big spread, and ESPN seems to agree with the oddsmakers. The ESPN Gamecast currently gives Kansas only a 1.9% chance to beat Oklahoma.
1.9%. That’s not a very good chance of victory for the Kansas Jayhawks, but it isn’t unfair. Kansas hasn’t beat Oklahoma in over 20 years, not to mention the Jayhawks struggled last week against TCU. Overall, Kansas just isn’t a very good football team right now and it may take some time to get back to the Mangino era of success.
Unlike Kansas, Oklahoma has been smooth sailing this season. They’re 4-0 on the season and ranked number six in the country according to the AP Poll. The Sooners also have Heisman trophy candidate Jalen Hurts at the quarterback position.
Hurts has been on fire this season, completing 77% of his passes for 1,295 yards, 12 touchdowns, and only one interception. Hurts has also been dangerous on the ground, picking up five touchdowns and 443 yards so far this year.
So with all that in mind, it seems more than likely true that Kansas football doesn’t stand a chance this Saturday against the mighty Oklahoma Sooners. To demonstrate just how long those odds are, here are four things more likely than the Jayhawks beating Oklahoma this Saturday.
