1-0 Kansas Heads-Up

Kansas is coming off a week-one win over Indiana State 24-17. The Jayhawks will be looking to pick up their second win of the season and of the Les Miles era against Coastal Carolina before going on the road next week against Boston College.

The big storyline this week has been the return of star sophomore running back Pooka Williams, who sat out the first game due to suspension. Williams was Kansas’ best playmaker last season and will look to help lead the Jayhawks to a victory later tonight.

 0-1 Coastal Carolina Heads-Up

Coastal Carolina is coming off a tough home loss last week to Eastern Michigan by a score of 30-27. Chanticleer QB Fred Payton threw four interceptions in the loss, despite also throwing for two touchdowns and over 300 yards. Coastal Carolina kicker Massimo Biscardi came up big last week for the Chanticleers. Biscardi was 3/3 including a career-high 53-yard field goal.

Head coach Jamey Chadwell is entering his first season as the full-time head coach for the Chanticleers; however, he did have some experience as the head coach for Coastal Carolina a few years ago when he was the team’s interim head coach. His record as a head coach at Coastal Carolina is 3-10 including last week’s loss.

The key this week for Kansas will be establishing the run with Williams, as well as taking advantage of mistakes made by the Coastal Carolina offense. If the Jayhawks can do those things, Kansas should be 2-0 for the first time in over five years.
