Former Kansas football player Daniel Wise recently made the Dallas Cowboy’s practice squad after playing during the preseason for the club.

While at the University of Kansas, Wise was nearly unblockable. The six-foot-three-inch, 285-pound defensive tackle was a problem for offensive lines everywhere. He was named all Big12 three times, including two all Big 12 first-team selections in 2017 and 2018. Wise finished his career with Kansas football in 2018 with 108 tackles, 17 sacks, and 43 tackles for loss over his career.

Wise went undrafted in the NFL draft and ended up signing with the Dallas Cowboys. In his most recent preseason action against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Wise was all over the Tampa Bay offense. He totaled six tackles including two sacks on the night.

Despite a strong preseason, Wise missed a spot on the 53-man roster. That isn’t to say that he won’t end up on a roster by the end of the season, whether it be with the Cowboys or another club that needs a solid defensive lineman. As a matter of fact, it’s fairly likely that Wise will be either called up to the 53-man roster or sign with another team very soon.

Wise’s ever-positive attitude continued to shine even though he didn’t make the cut. He tweeted this image and message out after the news of his move to the practice squad was known:

light. Hot. Kansas football: Jayhawks look confident during game-winning drive

Wise’s contribution and dedication to the Jayhawks didn’t go unnoticed or underappreciated by fans. A Kansas football great, Daniel Wise will always have a home in Lawrence, Kansas. He has the entire Jayhawk nation behind him as he moves with forward with his NFL career; wherever it may take him.
