Kansas football stepped when they had to last Saturday against Indiana State. The Jayhawks appear to be on their way to a great season if they can keep up the timely big plays.
The Les Miles era at Kansas has begun and so far it hasn’t disappointed. In Miles’ first game, the Jayhawks stepped up and made big plays when the game was on the line down the stretch.
Kansas’ prolific receiving corps made huge catches all throughout the game, and Carter Stanley certainly cemented himself as the answer at the QB position moving forward.
The Kansas defense also got in on the scoring, with Hasan Defense taking an interception back for a touchdown midway through the first quarter, scoring the Jayhawk’s first points of the season.
Check out the Kansas football highlights from yesterday’s game below:
It was an exciting start to what will hopefully be a turning point in Kansas football’s long and tortured history. Les Miles’ reputation as a top-tier recruiter will certainly help, and the performance on the field wasn’t too shabby either to Miles’ credit.
The fans certainly took notice of the energy and potential surrounding the Kansas football program. The official attendance for the game was reported at 32,611 per Kansas Athletics. That’s quite an improvement over last season’s home opener that only 24,305 fans bothered to show up for.
The energy around campus and the program itself is changing by the day. It won’t happen overnight, but Kansas football is on the rise and only time will tell how high it will go. With some hard work and luck, Kansas football might be able to dig themselves out of the pit once and for all.
