The Kansas basketball season just ended and many fans are focused on next season. Some don’t like one of the non-conference opponents.

Kansas basketball fans are the best in the country. They are loyal, expect the best and are difficult to please. Jayhawk fans are enjoying the most successful 30-year-run in the history of college basketball.  With Hall of Fame coach Bill Self running the show, it’s great to be a Kansas basketball fan.

Even before final days of March Madness wound down, Kansas basketball fans made plans for next season. Many predicted who would announce they were heading to the pros. Others attempted to guess next season’s starting lineup.

This year’s March Madness run to the Final Four ended too soon. Fans didn’t like watching Villanova end Perry Ellis’ college career in 2016.  Watching the ‘Cats hit all those three pointers to end the Jayhawk careers of Devonte Graham and Svi Mykhailiuk was just awful.  After that game, fans didn’t want to think about Jay Wright, his fancy clothes or his Philadelphia guys.

A lot of fans expressed shocked when Kansas Athletics announced Wright and those Philadelphia guys are now headed to Allen Fieldhouse.  As a matter of fact, some fans thought the announcement of the December 15, non-conference game for next season was fake news. Had the team fans despised on April 1, earned the privilege of a game in the greatest college basketball arena in the country?

Coach Self and Jay Wright seem to get along well.  Self is a class act and has few enemies.  During Final Four week, there were some fun photos of the two coaches having fun conversations.  Maybe Wright begged him for a game in Lawrence?  It’s great that these ‘Cats want to play in Allen Fieldhouse. I just wish it wasn’t eight months away.
