Kansas basketball: Seton Hall preview, where to watch
By Stan Unruh
Kansas basketball is set for a Midwest Regional battle with Seton Hall. Here are few things to know when the Jayhawks face the Pirates.
The Big 12 Champion Kansas basketball team will face No. 8 seed Seton Hall in the Midwest Regional round of 32 Saturday. Devonte Graham’s 29 points led the Jayhawks past Penn 76-60. Pirate senior guard Khadeen Carrington scored 26 to give Seton Hall their first NCAA tourney victory since 2004. Their victory over North Carolina State was a foul fest. Officials called 55 fouls in that game.
Carrington is one of four Pirates averaging double figures on the season. Six-foot-six senior forward Desi Redreiguez leads the team in scoring at 17 points a contest. After watching them beat the Wolfpack, I am more concerned with how the Jayhawks will play 6-foot-10 senior center Angel Delgado. He’s averaging a double-double on the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Seton Hall won 22 games during an up and down season. They did get early wins over Texas Tech and Creighton. Villanova beat them twice. Butler knocked them out of the first round of the Big East Tournament. After a loss to Xavier on Valentine’s Day, the Pirates are 5-2 coming into Saturday’s game.
While the front court battle with Mitch Lightfoot, Silvio De Sousa and hopefully Udoka Azibuike against Delgado will be good. The battle between senior guards Graham and Carrington will probably make more headlines. Graham took over the game in Saturday’s Big 12 Tournament title game and again in Thursday’s March Madness opener. The finalist for National Player of the Year honors will have his hands full Saturday.

It is not secret the Jayhawks have little room for error. They certainly have the firepower to win this game. In addition to a big game from Graham, Dok needs to play more than the three minutes he did against the Quakers. The Pirates will have a difficult time keeping up with the Jayhawk guards. Lagerald Vick and Malik Newman must be aggressive and attack the basket. I also expect a big game from De Sousa. The team got past the tourney jitters Thursday. They need to step on the gas, run away from the Hall and get to Omaha.
