Kansas basketball: OSU rematch, how to tune in
By Stan Unruh
Kansas basketball wraps up the Big 12 regular season on the road Saturday. Here are a few things to know when the Jayhawks battle the Cowboys.
The Kansas basketball team wrapped up the outright Big 12 title on Monday night. The team is on a five-game winning streak and have a chance to finish the regular season strong. As a matter of fact, there should be plenty of motivation when they tip off Saturday afternoon in Stillwater. Getting revenge for the February loss to the Cowboys is not motivation enough.
This Jayhawk team needs to use Saturday to prepare for post season action. In order to win, they must change some of the mistakes they made in that 84-70 setback to the ‘Pokes at Allen Fieldhouse. Bill Self’s guys have to improve on the glass.
Oklahoma State is one of the top offensive rebounding teams in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are not. In that first meeting, the guys in orange scored 26 second chance points. OSU scored 24 second chance points in their Tuesday night win against Iowa State. That stat is important Saturday but will have a bigger impact when the Jayhawks start NCAA Tourney play.
The Jayhawks only turned the ball over 11 times in the first meeting with OSU. Despite that, the Cowboys turned those miscues into 20 points. That type of stat will kill an NCAA tourney run quickly. Devonte Graham won’t let that happen in Saturday’s rematch.

Keys to victory
Playing inside out through Udoka Azubuike is the how to stop the Cowboys. In the first meeting, the 7-foot sophomore scored 20 points in 21 minutes. Imagine what he could do if he stays out of foul trouble. Expect Dok to have a huge game Saturday. Oklahoma State seniors Jeffrey Carroll and Mitchell Solomon know a sweep of the Big 12 champs might help them earn a trip to the NCAA tournament. The Jayhawks must not let it happen.
