The month Kansas basketball fans have waited for is here. The calendar finally shows March and Jayhawk fans are excited.

Kansas basketball fans love the start of the basketball season. October and November are fine but the month of March is the absolute best. March brings the basketball madness we crave. Jayhawk fans have just as many reasons to celebrate again this season.

A few weeks ago, few expected this Kansas basketball team to wrap up another Big 12 Conference championship so efficiently.  January and February were cold and difficult for Jayhawks fans.  Some doubted, others attempted to figure it all out in advance instead of just trusting Hall of Fame coach Bill Self.

Unless our kids were playing, my wife is not a sports fan. She is a graduate of a university in Southern California. Despite that, even she kept asking me about this season’s Big 12 Conference race. She wanted to know which teams won and who was still on the schedule. She did not want Devonte Graham and  Svi Mykhailiuk to miss out on another conference title.

As a matter of fact, the way this year’s team overcame some adversity makes fans appreciate the 14th straight conference title even more.  If you know the outcome in the first chapter, the book is not much fun.  The suspense this season made it difficult but the ride and the outcome were fantastic.

Now that March has arrived, fans can enjoy the drama of the Big 12 tournament, Selection Sunday and the thrill ride of the Big Dance. As the month begins, the Jayhawks look mighty good. They are healthy, on a winning streak and have a great chance for a No. 1 NCAA Tourney seed. We need to enjoy the next 5 weeks. Devonte Graham could take this team a long way.
