Are Kansas Jayhawk fans interested in the outcome of the Super Bowl? A new poll shows most Americans just want to see Tom Brady lose.

College basketball is in the hearts and on the minds of most Kansas Jayhawk fans this month. Bill Self’s guys are working their way to another Big 12 title. The University is also celebrating the history of Kansas Basketball. The Super Bowl is certainly not at the top of the list unless you root for the Pats or Eagles.

Some Kansas basketball fans also pull for the Chiefs. Since the Kansas City team is not playing Sunday, will these Jayhawk fans cheer for Tom Brady or hope Philadelphia wins? Maybe they will watch a replay of the Sunflower Showdown victory instead of the Super Bowl?

An informal survey during my travels the past week indicated a deep divide over the Super Bowl. As a matter of fact, a lot of people told me they will just watch the commercials this year. They don’t care for another contest between a pair of east coast teams. They are also tired of watching the Pats in the big game.

A poll by Monmouth University indicates only 2 in 10 want to see New England win another NFL Championship. Fans of the Chiefs and just about every other team want any team other than the Patriots to win. In this case, they want the Eagles just like they hoped the Falcons would win a year ago. The poll also confirmed what I heard this week.

"One-fifth of the public is really excited about this year’s match-up. Fans expect the TV commercials to be more interesting than the action on the field."

Next: This Jayhawk team is becoming mentally tough

Friends, family and fans across the nation disagree on many things this year. Most Americans can agree on one thing this weekend, as the Monmouth poll learned. Americans don’t care much about this year’s Super Bowl and they want the Patriots to lose.
