Kansas basketball super fan Rob Riggle is all over television and the movies. He recently had a little fun at the expense of the purple ‘Cats.

Several years ago, I flew into Lawrence for Late Night in the Phog. I attended because I didn’t have to wait in line and had a seat just off the basketball court. As a matter of fact, I was sitting in front of Rob Riggle. I didn’t realize who it was at first until he smiled. At that point, I told myself it was probably someone else. It was Riggle.

I never miss Riggle’s Fox NFL pregame skits. Since I’m never home on Sunday, I DVR the show. He’s the only part of if worth watching. I even make my wife watch his crazy football antics. She doesn’t get most of the inside NFL jokes but she knows he’s a Jayhawk and pretends to enjoy it.

Since it’s Sunflower Showdown time, I was pleased to see Riggle recently poked fun at the Wildcats. Pete Grathoff in the Kansas City Star wrote about Riggle’s appearance on the “Not Just Sports with Suzy Shuster & Rich Eisen” podcast. Among other things he said some wild things about those who attend the school in Manhattan.

Next: Stats indicate a close Sunflower Showdown

I didn’t listen to the entire podcast but the part where Riggle talks about country bumpkins and coach Bill Snyder were hilarious. As a matter of fact, most K-Staters would probably think it was funny too. However, Riggle is much funnier when you can see his silly grin. It’s not the same just hearing his voice. Either way, it’s perfect Kansas basketball, pre-Sunflower Showdown listening.
