Former Kansas basketball standout Joel Embiid continues to receive honors and have fun. Jayhawk fans enjoy keeping up with the rising star.

Did you see pictures of former Kansas basketball star Joel Embiid this week? You never know where the 7-foot tall bundle of joy will appear.  He is a regular on social media for his amazing NBA play. As a matter of fact, some of the videos are difficult to believe.  Embiid does things for the Philadelphia 76ers unlike anyone else. The fans love it and him.

He’s averaging a double-double through 20 games this season.  The 23 points and 11 rebounds are impressive and his antics are wild. That’s why Sports Illustrated honored him with their Rising Star of the Year Award at their Sportsperson of the Year event. Embiid attended the function at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn.

As usual, the big man looked sharp. You may recall the incredible orange jacket he wore to last spring’s ESPY awards.  Kansas Jayhawk fans will get to watch the festivities this year. The show is set to debut Friday night and again Saturday night at 8p.m. EST on NBCSN and Univision Deportes. Check your local listing for the channels on your cable or satellite provider.

As expected, the red carpet was among the most fun at this awards event. Embiid is never one to miss anything fun. The man who loves to interact with anyone and everyone didn’t miss the red carpet. The photographers didn’t miss him. How could they in that beautiful tuxedo.

The photos of Embiid standing next to Houston Astro Jose Altuve are incredible. Embiid towers over the 5-foot-6-inch American League MVP.  Embiid even makes 6-foot-5 Houston Texan’s J.J. Watt look tiny. Make sure you tune in to watch Embiid in action Friday or Saturday. You never know what he will do.
