Kansas Jayhawk fans are celebrating. They made the finals of Fandom 250 ranking. They deserve attention in this ultimate list.

University of Kansas fans are some of the best. As a matter of fact, some of the nation’s very best. According to the latest Fandom 250, the University of Kansas made the finals of the top colleges and universities ranked for avid athletic fan base.

Over the years, many athletes visiting or moving to Lawrence comment on the enthusiasm for all things Kansas Jayhawks.  Most say they never experienced anything quite like what they see.  Rock Chalk Jayhawk everywhere. Crimson and Blue dominates.  They can’t imagine all the fans with a lifetime bond to the University of Kansas thanks to the history and success.

The Jayhawk fan base is not limited to students and alumni or just basketball fans. As a matter of fact, the passion extends far beyond northeast Kansas. Stop on just about any college campus in the state of Kansas and you will probably find just as much crimson, blue and Jayhawks as the local school.

The list is controversial

Several things I especially noticed about the latest ranking. In the first place, Kansas is listed along with those Southeastern Conference ‘Cats. We’ll be rooting against them in a few days. I was surprised at several schools who didn’t make the list.

What happened to Texas A&M or I’m sure you can think of several others not on the list.  I was happy to see two other Big 12 school included. Both Oklahoma and Texas deserve the attention. When it is finished, I think Kansas deserves at least a top five rank, certainly ahead of East Mississippi College.
