Is Jeff Withey being used by Dallas Mavericks?

Former Kansas basketball center Jeff Withey is joining a new NBA team. He has a long way to go to make the roster in Dallas.
Jeff Withey, one of the best big men ever for Kansas basketball is joining a new team. Word broke Friday afternoon on his new two-year deal in Dallas. It is not an impressive agreement, according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN. On the other hand, Withey has an opportunity to make the Mavericks roster unless there is more here than Mark Cuban is saying.
Withey is one of my favorite former Jayhawks. Hardcore Kansas basketball fans still remember that late December night in 2008 when news broke Withey left Arizona to join the Jayhawks. A nice holiday gift for Bill Self. However, many of us wondered if the 7-footer would ever amount to much.
It was well worth the wait. As the former volleyball player from San Diego added some weight and confidence, he blossomed into a star. That 2012 team came very close to winning it all. It was a fun run to the title game. I drove through a massive thunderstorm while listening to Bob Davis call the game.

As a mater of fact, the Jayhawks could use another Withey now. That may not be the case in Dallas. New Orleans and Utah paid him a lot of money and Jeff suffered some unfortunate negative publicity on social media and in the news. I don’t know why Utah doesn’t want him back. Probably because of his limited production, not alleged issues with the ladies.
As a matter of fact, I think Dallas needs a Withey. Especially since there are issues with Nerlens Noel. Many any questions remain unanswered in this situation. Is Mark Cuban using Withey or does coach Rick Carlisle want him on the court? I know all Kansas basketball fans hope the best for Withey. We want him to make the Mavericks’ roster.
