Kansas football coach David Beaty is an excellent salesperson. His positive attitude is a critical factor in year three of rebuilding the program.

David Beaty’s personality is dramatically different than previous Kansas football head coaches. It’s not saying much but it is refreshing and so far, fans and most importantly recruits like what they see.  Consider his appearance at this week’s Big 12 football media circus in Frisco, Texas.

When asked about the momentum in the Kansas football program, Beaty discussed the upward trend, his consistent message, the fans and his excitement with this year’s team. “Because all of our young-uns are three years into it and they’ve got some experience,” according to a transcript of his opening comments before the cameras. He didn’t call the team a pile of crap as a previous coach did.

On Thursday, Beaty took his positive attitude to a Big 12 coaches event at ESPN studios in Bristol, CT.  These ESPN studios are located in part of the country doesn’t care much for the nation’s midsection. As a matter of fact, they typically ignore it or are critical of it.

It’s difficult to ignore Beaty. He is an excellent ambassador for Kansas football and the Big 12 conference. According to social media reports, Beaty had a lot of fun during his time on the east coast Thursday.

Beaty is full of enthusiasm and why not? He has nearly 50 letter-winners back for this season. That includes 14 starters. The Jayhawks have not enjoyed similar numbers in a long time. Preseason honors are coming in for Jayhawks on both sides of the ball. It’s nice to see this again. All things considered,  I can’t wait for the September 2, season opener.
