No. 3 — Kevin Young

Best season — 2012-2013: 7.8 points, 6.8 rebounds 1.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game

There was certainly nothing flashy about Young’s game during his two years in Lawrence, but he was the ultimate role player. He wasn’t the most skilled offensive player but he was always the most energetic player on the floor.

In his first season, Young was the first and often only big man off the bench to spell both Jeff Withey and Thomas Robinson. He wasn’t much of a scorer, but he was capable of turning a game around quickly with the energy he brought and he did it in the biggest game of the regular season when Kansas beat Missouri in Allen Fieldhouse in 2012.

In the 2012-2013 season, Young took on a bigger role than anybody could have anticipated. He started a majority of the season over a young and talented freshman by the name of Perry Ellis and reached double figures in scoring 11 times. He wasn’t able to score in the post like a “traditional” Bill Self big man but he was able to create points with his constant activity around the rim.
