The Kansas basketball program is represented at the Adidas Eurocamp in Treviso, Italy this year by Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, who is participating as a member of the Under-20 Ukraine National Team.
Mykhailiuk, who is entering his junior year with the Jayhawks, is the leader of the Ukraine U-20 team and helped them to a 99-91 win over the USA Adidas U-18 Select Team. In the game, Mykhailiuk recorded a triple-double with 12 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds.
The USA Select team featured some Top 100 recruits from the 2017 class, including Alex Reese a and UCLA commit Jaylen Hands.
DraftExpress.com is reporting on the event, and had this to say about Mykhailiuk’s play on Day 1:
"In the late game, Kansas swingman Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk took to the floor with Ukrainian U20 National Team. On his 19th birthday, the talented sophomore showed the things he can do well and also what he needs to keep improving on. Making some shots and defending well, he scored 19 points going 8/21 from the field and 3/9 from beyond the arc. However, he struggled when forced to create on his own, which isn’t surprising given this team only recently convened for this event and needed him to do more than he’s probably comfortable at this stage."
You can read more about Mykhailiuk here, as they did a full breakdown of his play through the 3-day camp.

"Able to stray away from his fairly confined role as a spot up shooter at Kansas, Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk played arguably his best all around game of the Eurocamp against the USA Select Team, posting a triple double – 12 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists – in 37 minutes. The 19-year-old Ukranian guard made 4-of-11 threes both off the catch and the dribble, but it was his court vision and playmaking ability as a primary ball handler that stood out the most."
Svi’s upcoming junior campaign will be an interesting one, as freshman Josh Jackson’s arrival puts playing time on the wing in question for the Ukrainian. Mykhailiuk’s play at the end of last season was promising, especially his work with the ball in his hands. That versatility gives Head Coach Bill Self arguably his most complete 4-man rotation in the backcourt since the 2008 NCAA Championship team. While Svi will mostly always be a streaky shooter from three, his playmaking and passing ability will be more valuable to a roster that has no real backup to point guards Devonte Graham and Frank Mason.
