Darrell Bowie – Iowa State, (RS) Senior

Bowie is the latest in a long line of Iowa State transfers, coming in from Northern Illinois. Bowie is a redshirt senior that spent much of last season watching from the sidelines with a dislocated shoulder.

With the losses of Georges NiangJameel McKay, and Abel Nader, the 6’7 lefty Bowie should be able to get plenty of immediate playing time under Steve Prohm. The Cyclones will look to Bowie to be an inside rebounding presence alongside fellow incoming transfer Merrill Holden from Louisiana Tech. The Cyclones only return one player over 6’4″ – seldom used sophomore Simeon Carter – and are bringing in Bowie, Holden, and freshmen bigs Cameron Lard and Solomon Young.

Bowie is a good fit for the Iowa State system, though, as he is more of a small-ball forward that can rebound in the paint. He will have to shoot much better from three – he was only 12-47 from 3-point range in his 3 seasons with the Huskies – in order to help fill the void left by Niang.
