Cody Riley – Forward – Phoenix Family

Riley was once considered one of the 2-3 best prospects in the class when he was younger, but has since fallen back into the crowded 2017 class.

The 6’7″ forward is a strong, physical player that is at his best around the rim. The lefty has good touch on his hook shot and gets off the floor quickly for slams. He doesn’t try to play away from the rim as a stretch-forward, but has occasionally shown the ability to hit mid-range shots.

Defensively, his strength is an asset, but his lack of height and length limit his long-term potential there. He is a good rebounder who boxes strong and gets good position underneath. His instincts are also above average on the offensive glass.

Tier 3

While Riley was once considered a Kansas lean, he has since fallen well down their board. His progression has stalled since he exploded onto the basketball scene as a 7th grader, and that is likely what led Kansas to look elsewhere. Riley’s mother is an employee in the UCLA system, and we expect him to end up there.
