Collin Sexton – Combo Guard – Southern Stampede

Sexton, a 6’1 scorer from Atlanta, GA, is the most recent offer in our list. Kansas extended an offer after his play in the EYBL this spring put him in the national spotlight. At 30+ PPG, Sexton leads the circuit in scoring by more than 7ppg.

Aside from his scoring, Sexton is known for being a very tough and playing extremely hard on the court. He’s good shooter, though not great, but his ability at the free throw line suggests he can improve there. In fact, getting to the free throw line is arguably his best skill as he’s taken 84 FTA through 7 EYBL games.

We list him here as a combo-guard mainly because of his size, which will surely see him labeled as a point guard in most places, and his scoring instincts. In reality, he’s a true shooting\scoring guard that has never shown much vision or passing. He’s only averaging just over 1 assist per game in the EYBL.

Defensively, Sexton is quick and tough enough to be a quality defender at the next level. He’s also a good rebounder for his size, averaging over 5 rebounds per game for the Southern Stampede.

Tier 2

Kansas head coach Bill Self has had great success with smaller guards, and pairing Sexton with potential lead guards like Trae Young or Duke transfer Derryck Thornton would be a good fit for the Jayhawks. With the way Sexton has blown up over the past few weeks, it’s safe to say his recruitment will probably take a while as the schools evaluate him further. We’ve got him at Tier 2 because we think this is someone Kansas has a good chance to land, and because it appears on the surface like it would be a good fit.
