They’re Winning at Disney World!

Not only did the Jayhawks get to go Disney World, they left winners.

It might not have been “Murderers’ Row,” but the victories over Rhode Island (21-8), Tennessee (15-15), and Michigan State (21-10) at the Orlando Classic Nov. 27-30, were no easy task.

They were especially needed considering just 10 days before the tournament began the Jayhawks scored a paltry 40 points in a 32-point loss to Kentucky.

Ellis led Kansas to a 16-point victory against the Rams in Game 1 of the classic, with a 17-point performance. Then, the Jayhawks turned a 62-all game against the Volunteers in to an 82-67 victory behind Frank Mason III’s 24 points.

Even though Michigan State has had a bit of a down year, beating a Tom Izzo coached team is always an accomplishment.

It was an ugly championship game, as the two teams combined for just 39 field goals.

Ellis was the leader again (noticing a theme here?), with 17 points and nine rebounds in the 61-56 Jayhawk win.

It was a tournament victory where the trophy may not even make the cut to be displayed in Allen Fieldhouse, but an important one nonetheless.

It was three wins of an eight-game winning streak that set the tone for an 11-2, non-conference season.

Not a bad trip to Disney World.
