Reasons 50-26 it’s Great to be a Jayhawk

50. Finishing as runner-up in the 2012 men’s basketball NCAA Tournament was considered disappointing.

49. That’s what happens when you win five championships — 1922, 1923, 1952, 1988, 2008.

48. The Orange Bowl was cool.

47. Your former head football coach Mark Mangino was cool too, you know before he berated players, and now seven years later when we realized Turner Gil wasn’t good and Charlie Weis didn’t care.

46. Mangino actually tweeted this during last year’s NFL season:

45. Staying with the football theme, former WR Nigel King made this catch last year, was featured on SportsCenter, and is now hoping to get drafted.

44. A “down” basketball season is 25 wins and a Sweet 16 loss.

43. Purple is nowhere to be found on the players’ jerseys.

42. Since Bill Self has been the head basketball coach in 2003 your team won the conference regular season championship in 2005:

41. 2006

40. 2007

39. 2008

38. 2009

37. 2010

36. 2011

35. 2012

34. 2013

33. 2014

32. 2015

31. Most likely 2016

30. Probably 2017

29. Could even be 2018 and beyond

28. If you don’t win the conference some year, you might just go ahead and win the whole dang NCAA Tournament. (See: 1988 Kansas National Champions)

27. As if 12 in a row isn’t enough, you’ve seen an NCAA record 58 total conference championships. Well unless you are about 115 you aren’t old enough to remember them all, but you’ll still claim them.

26. Just this week you were able to witness your Jayhawks improve to 190-9 at home under Self, as they came back from an 18-point deficit against West Virginia, complete with this Jamari Traylor dunk.
