Kansas Jayhawks’ Head Coach Bill Self is in the middle of his 12th season. With 10 consecutive Big 12 Conference titles, a national championship, and a 343-72 (.826) record under his belt, there is no denying he knows what he’s doing.

He’s also had a little help.

Numerous conference first-teamers and All-Americans have played for Self, and two of the first three players taken in the 2014 draft (Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid), were Jayhawks.

Since Xavier Henry came to campus in 2009, Self has had a total of five “one-and-dones.” That may not be pleasing to Jayhawk fans, but it means he’s recruiting the cream of the crop.

Ever wonder who the best players the future Hall of Famer has coached? Well, we are here to tell you.

Through the Phog has put together its first, second, third, honorable mention, and freshman “All-Bill Self KU” teams. Here are a few things to know before you see the teams.

  • While overall numbers played a big part in the decision, so did what the players meant to KU — and its fans. Did they lead them to a national title? Did they play each and every game all four years for the ‘Hawks? Or, did they have one incredible season that out-shined their other not-so-great years?
  • Any player who played for Self, even if recruited by Roy Williams, is eligible.
