Top 10 Moments at Allen Fieldhouse

Allen Fieldhouse, the home of Kansas Jayhawks basketball has had some memorable events occur. Here is a list of the top 10:
1. Wilt Chamberlain kicks off his college career with 52 points in a 18 point Kansas win over Northwestern. Chamberlain went onto to become one of the top players ever in basketball.
2. Allen Fieldhouse opens up in 1955 with a Kansas win over rival Kansas State, 77-66.
3. Kansas defeats Oklahoma State in the final matchup of two legendary coaches, Phog Allen and Hank Iba, 56-55 in 1956.
4. Lynette Woodward scores 44 points for Kansas in a 101-64 win over Iowa State in 1979. This was the most points scored ever for a woman on the court.
5. Kansas defeats Kentucky 150-95 in a 1989 game. The game featured two top 25 teams, yet saw the Jayhawks go wild from the three-point line.
6. Danny Manning scores 40 points in a 70-60 win over Notre Dame in 1987.
7. Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison total 43 points in their final game at home in 2003. The Jayhawks beat Oklahoma State, 89-61. The game was also head coach Roy Williams final game on the court. Williams left for North Carolina around a month later.
8. Oscar Robertson in a 1958 NCAA tournament game, scored 56 points for Cincinnati, the most ever at Allen. The Bearcats went onto defeat Arkansas, 97-62.
9. Raef Lafrentz, Billy Thomas and C.B. McGrath finish their Kansas careers unbeaten at home after a 83-70 win over Oklahoma in 1998.
10. Kansas defeats rival Missouri, 80-70 as part of the team’s 100-year celebration weekend in 1998.
