Recruiting: Jordan Darling commits to Kansas
By George Pike
Jordan Darling, a 6-foot-4 inch quarterback from Shawnee Mission in Kansas, agreed to play for Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks. Darling, originally linked to Kansas State, instead opted to play in Lawrence.
Darling threw for 16 touchdowns and 1,820 passing yards for his junior season at Shawnee Mission. Darling is listed as a three-star recruit and ranked 9oth on the list of quarterbacks from Rivals.com. Cozart, is listed as the 52nd-ranked quarterback and also a three-star at the position. Cozart is more of a dual-threat at the position, while Darling is the drop-back style quarterback, more suited for a traditional offense.
Darling, joins Bishop Miege quarterback Montell Cozart as incoming freshman for Kansas. Ben Johnson and Kellen Ash, also three-star recruits previously signed with Kansas. Johnson is a tight end and Ash stars as a linebacker. Ash, from Parkway South in Baldwin, Missouri stars as a quick linebacker who is described as a sack-machine. Ash made 19 sacks as a junior and racked up 63 tackles. Johnson, stars on both sides of the ball in high school, though will be counted on as a tight-end for Kansas. Johnson in 2011, made 56 receptions and 12 touchdowns, plus had 57 tackles.
This is the current list of recruits for Kansas, with more to soon follow as the team sets their sights on more recruits around the area.
