Jeremy Benjamin Recruiting Update

Three-star Florida linebacker Jeremy Benjamin is one of the hottest LBs in the 2013 class and has received 21 offers thus far in his recruitment. Although “Sweetness” doesn’t have a favorite, the Texas A&M Aggies target says that Big 12 squad West Virginia, SMU, Memphis, and Illinois stand out to him.

One of the top 30 inside linebackers in the country, the Hollywood, Florida recruit is a player ESPN is high on. They value him as a four-star recruit with a Scout Grade of 80 and rank him as the 16th best at his position. Per ESPN, Benjamin is one of the top 75 players in the state and one of the top 150 in the region.

247Sports, meanwhile, ranks Jeremy Benjamin seven spots down in the state of Florida (still in the top 75) and has him as a three-star recruit with a rating of 87.

The 6’3″, 230 pound ILB can run a 4.55 forty and is being recruited hard by Illinois, West Virginia, Texas A&M, and WVU’s bitter rivals Pittsburgh. Jeremy Benjamin holds interest from Kansas as well and has received an offer from Kansas State.

Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Kentucky, Memphis, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, SMU, Texas A&M, and West Virginia are major programs that have offered Jeremy Benjamin.

The solid three-star recruit is taking his time and has no favorites at this point, despite interest from some key schools. Benjamin is lauded for his determination and mix of strength and speed that allows him to play well against whatever an offense runs.

Jeremy Benjamin is an athletic linebacker with the versatility to kick outside, but his upside and continued growth shows that he is best off at ILB. The great thing is that the top tackler excels as an interior and exterior run defender, which gives him that versatility at linebacker. He is a top ILB recruit who can be an impact player for a solid college team and make plays against the run.
