Greatest Big 12 Games Ever #10. Texas Vs. Colorado (2001)

With the Big 12 Conference now a ten team (Texas Run) Conference I decided to dust off the video shelf (Thanks Youtube.com) to give you my favorite Big 12 Football games ever.

10. 2001 Big 12 Title Game Texas Vs. Colorado.

Back Story

The week before Colorado had just pimp slapped Nebraska out of what seemed to be the national title game and Texas had a gift from the college football gods as they won the south division title because Chokelahoma, I mean Oklahoma was upset by Oklahoma State the next day setting off this humongous BCS implication filled showdown. The stage was set for Texas and Chris Simms who couldn’t win the “Big One” but this was the time he would rise up and with all of Texas behind him, right?? Nope Colorado upset the Longhorns 39-37.

Aftermath

Colorado goes on to the Fiesta Bowl with a small chance to share the national championship if they beat Oregon and Nebraska (Who Colorado beat) upsets Miami. Well None of that happened as Colorado lost to the Ducks and Nebraska got steamrolled by the Canes. As for Texas, this was just the beginning of the “Can’t win the big one” moments till Vince Young gave the Horns retibution versus Colorado in 2005 winning the Big 12 Title Game 70-3.
