On Saturday evening, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls defeated Kansas Lady Jayhawks, 65-52 in Lawrence. Toni Young dominated the middle for Oklahoma State in scoring 15 points and pulling down 15 boards. The win moved the 12th-ranked Cowgirls to 15-3 and 4-2 in the Big 12 conference. Kansas fell to 12-6 overall, and 3-4 in conference.

Earlier this year, Oklahoma State beat Kansas in Stillwater, 76-59. So with Saturday’s win Oklahoma State continued their recent dominance of the Lady Jayhawks. Lindsey Keller scored 14 points, Tiffany Bias added 12 as did Kendra Suttles. Oklahoma State have won 24 games in a row that four players have scored in double figures, including 13 this year.

Kansas was led by Chelsea Gardner, who scored 14 points in the game along with nine rebounds. Natalie Knight and Carolyn Davis each scored 12 points, and senior guard Angel Goodrich added 10 points. Goodrich added six rebounds and six assists.

Kansas and Oklahoma State fought to a near draw in the first half, with the Cowgirls holding a 30-27 lead at halftime. Oklahoma State began to pull away after a Suttles made three-pointer pushed their lead to 41-34. This started a 12-5 run, getting the lead to 11. Kansas attempted to rally, cutting the lead to seven with six minutes left, but couldn’t get any closer.

Next up for the Lady Jayhawks is Iowa State on Wednesday.

Tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. central time, the Kansas Lady Jayhawks are hosting Oklahoma State Cowgirls in Lawrence. Kansas is 12-5 and 3-3 in Big 12 action on the year, while the 12th-ranked Oklahoma State team enters the game at 14-3 overall, and 3-3 in conference. Earlier this season, Oklahoma State defeated Kansas, 76-59 in Stillwater on Jan. 8th.

Both teams are tied for fifth in the Big 12 standings, so this game carries extra importance. Kansas is coming off a confidence lifting 76-38 whipping of Texas on Wednesday. Oklahoma State fell to Kansas State on Wednesday, 76-70. The Cowgirls will be looking to get back on track vs the Lady Jayhawks here. Oklahoma State has won the last three meetings between the two teams in Lawrence.

The Cowgirls are led by Toni Young, who is averaging 17 points per game. Liz Donahoe, contributes with 16 points, and Tiffany Bias adds 12 per game. Young, also leads the team in rebounds, averaging nearly 10 per game.

Kansas got seniors Carolyn Young and Angel Goodrich going again vs Texas, a game that was much needed as the Jayhawks had lost three straight. This game is a perfect chance for Kansas to show once again, they are a team to reckon with in the conference.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls improved to 12-2 overall and 1-2 in Big 12 conference play after defeating Kansas, 76-59 on Tuesday night in Stillwater. Kansas with the loss fell to 11-3 overall, and 2-1 in Big 12 Conference play.

The 21st-ranked Cowgirls were led by guard Liz Donahoe who scored 24 points in the game. Forward Toni Young added 15 points and eight rebounds. Brittany Martin posted a double-double for the Cowgirls, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 boards. Kansas was led by Carolyn Davis. The senior forward scored 14 points. Angel Goodrich scored 12 points, to go along with eight assists, three blocks, and three steals. In the end, a balanced attack from Oklahoma State was too much for Kansas to keep up with.

In a game, Oklahoma State never trailed, they shot 46% from the field. The Cowgirls held an early 20-10 lead after Donohoe scored on a running shot. Kansas failed to cut much into this lead by halftime as the Cowgirls held an 37-29 lead by intermission. After Davis made a free throw in the second half, Kansas was behind by seven points at 44-37. Oklahoma State then posted a 16-5 run, storming to a 60-42 lead at the 9:05 mark. Kansas managed to cut the lead to 11, but no closer.

Next up for the Lady Jayhawks is a game with Brittany Greiner and the top-ranked Baylor Bears on Sunday.
