Tomorrow night in Waco, Texas, the top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears host the Kansas Lady Jayhawks in a Big 12 conference clash. The Bears enter the game at 20-1, and 10-0 in conference. Kansas has a 14-6 mark overall, and is 5-4 in conference. The Lady Jayhawks have won two straight after losing four of five games. Baylor was one of those four losses on Jan. 13th, 82-60 in Lawrence.

Baylor is led by likely women’s player of the year, Brittany Griner who is averaging 23 points per game, nine rebounds and about four blocked shots. Griner dominates down low, slowing down opposing team’s offenses. Point guard Odyssey Sims is the team’s top player for assists, averaging six per game. Sims adds 12 points, and leads the team in steals with just over two per contest. The other double-figure scorer is Brooklyn Pope, who averages 11 points per contest. Baylor’s lone loss this season came to Stanford, 71-69 on Nov. 16th. The Bears have since rallied off the next 17 games in order with wins.

Kansas will look to keep pace in the early going and try to make a game of it tomorrow as the Bears are a difficult team to keep up with. Two players who need to shine are Angel Goodrich and Carolyn Davis, the Jayhawks senior leaders.

On Sunday at 1:30 central time, the 17th-ranked Kansas Lady Jayhawks host the top-ranked Baylor Lady Bears in Lawrence. Baylor enters the game with a 13-1 record overall and 3-0 in the Big 12. The Bears lone loss came to Stanford, 71-69. The Lady Jayhawks lost to the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Tuesday.

Baylor is led by Brittany Griner, who is easily the top women’s player in the nation. Griner, averages 20 points, eight rebounds and about three blocked shots per contest. Griner led the Bears to last season’s women’s basketball championship, where Baylor came out on top. Point guard Odyssey Sims, is second on the team in scoring. Sims, averages about 13 points per game, and six assists. The Bears have one other double-figure scorer in Brooklyn Pope, who averages 12 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Jayhawks, will be looking to rebound upon a bad night of basketball on Tuesday. Kansas fell behind right from the start, and failed to make much of a run to get back into the game. Angel Goodrich, and Carolyn Davis will need to lead the way vs Griner and Sims.
