On Tuesday, the same day Andrew Wiggins signed with the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team, Kyron Watson signed with the football team. Watson, was initially slated to visit Michigan this upcoming weekend, though instead surprised many with signing to play for head coach Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks football team.

Watson, is ranked as the 19th linebacker for the class of 2014 class. He is a four-star recruit from ESPN and a three-star guy from Rivals. Watson is rated the nation’s number four linebacker and 100th recruit overall from ESPN. The 6-0 linebacker from East St. Louis, Illinois runs the 40 in 4.67 seconds. He has great speed, and has the potential to be a huge recruiting coup for a team in need of help on defense.

Watson, was offered scholarships from Purdue, Iowa State, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Syracuse and TCU. He was also recruited by Alabama and Ohio State.

The linebacker racked up 142 tackles, five sacks and three interceptions as a junior at East St. Louis High.

Andrew Wiggins, the top-recruit for the class of 2013 has signed a letter of intent to play for head coach Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks. The decision was made public after a private ceremony in West Virginia on Tuesday.

Wiggins, was ranked as the top prospect of 2014 before changing his reclassification to 2013. He had until Wednesday to sign with a Division 1 school. Last season for Huntington Prep in West Virginia, Wiggins averaged 24 points, 12 rebounds and four assists. He was named the Naismith High School player of the year. Wiggins chose Kansas over Kentucky, Florida State and North Carolina.

The top-ranked recruit instantly bolsters the basketball team.

Both of Wiggins parents competed for Florida State, as his father had a standout career on the court for the Seminoles, before playing in the NBA for six years. Wiggins mother competed for Canada in track and field, after competing in the sport at Florida State.

Kansas’s recruiting class was already second behind Kentucky for the year. Adding Wiggins, makes the class even more stronger. The team has Wayne Selden, Joel Embiid, Brannen Greene and Connor Frankamp already signed. Wiggins, is expected to make a huge impact on the team, especially with Ben McLemore already declaring for the NBA Draft this year. McLemore, is projected by many draft forecasters to be the top pick of the draft.
