			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>35 different entries from Kansas track and field athletes were accepted into the NCAA West Prelims  field. The top-ranked women team were granted 22 entries from 19 different athletes, while the men who are ranked 21st, earned 13 entries.</p>
<p>Mike Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas will host the prelims to be held on May 23rd through 25th. The rest of the country travels to Greensboro, North Carolina, at the campus of North Carolina A T&amp;T for the East Prelims. The outdoor NCAA Track and Field championships take place in Eugene, Oregon at the campus of the Oregon Ducks over June 3rd to 5th.</p>
<p>The top 12 finishers at each event advance to the NCAA championships. The NCAA selection committee welcomes the top 48 performers in each event and the top 24 on the relay side of things for the prelims.</p>
<p>Andrea Geubelle in the triple and long jump events, Jessica Maroszek in the shot put and discus, and Lindsey Vollmer in the heptathlon, and high jump events are three double performers on the women&#8217;s side, not to mention Paris Daniels who competes in the 200m run, and relays for the 4&#215;100, and 4&#215;400. Summer Olympics 2012 Olympian Diamond Dixon also competes for both relay events.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Tuesday, the SEC and Big 12 conferences announced that the meeting between Florida and Kansas on Dec. 10th will be part of a new challenge between the two conferences. The Big 12/SEC challenge begins its first run next season. The game will be played in Gainesville, Florida.</p>
<p>This Challenge includes five teams ranked in an early  preseason poll: No. 1 Kentucky, No. 5 Kansas, No. 7 Florida, No. 11 Oklahoma State and No. 19 Baylor.</p>
<p>ESPN is scheduled to provide coverage of all the games in the challenge. Here is a look at the 2013-14 Big 12/SEC Challenge:</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Former Kansas quarterback Dayne Crist has signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens. Crist, was a part of rookie camp for the Kansas City Chiefs over the weekend, though will join the Ravens immediately.</p>
<p>Crist, struggled in his only season with the Jayhawks, only throwing 4 touchdowns over the season. Crist, completed 103-216 passes for 1,313 yards, starting in seven games and appearing in four more games.</p>
<p>The quarterback joins the NFL champions, where he hopes to compete for a backup job behind Joe Flacco. Crist, is one of nine Jayhawks who have earned a free agent contract or rookie camp invite. Offensive lineman Tanner Hawkinson was the lone Jayhawk drafted in last month&#8217;s draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Tunde Bakare signed with the Chicago Bears, Greg Brown the San Diego Chargers, and Trevor Marrongelli signed with the Detroit Lions. Former Jayhawks safety Bradley McDougald is battling to join the Kansas City Chiefs, and he is joined by former Jayhawks teammate Toben Operrum. Josh Williams was signed by the Chicago Bears, and Duane Zlatnik was added by the Jacksonville Jaguars.</p>
