2013 four-star center Karviar Shepherd is one of the top 50 recruits overall in his class and has received a few offers already in his recruitment and interest from some solid programs. Shepherd is known for his prowess on the boards and is ranked by Rivals as the fifth best center in the class and Scout as the tenth. The Arlington recruit is one of the ten best in the state, and there is no doubt that he is one of the most talented recruits in the country.

Apr 2, 2012; New Orleans, LA, USA; Kansas Jayhawks head coach Bill Self reacts during the second half in the finals of the 2012 NCAA men

Karviar Shepherd has offers from Kansas State, the Kansas Jayhawks, UCLA, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M, Louisville, Georgetown, and Harvard.

He has also received interest from Texas, Arkansas, Florida State, and Ohio State. Right now, KSU, Kansas, Georgetown, Harvard, Louisville, Texas, Texas A&M, and TCU are teams to watch for in his recruitment.

The popular four-star big is 6’9″, 210 pounds and is a good scorer and is the kind of player who won’t be a headcase and is wanted on a team. Karviar Shepherd may not have the best handles, but he isn’t poor in this regard. He’s also about an average passer for a big man and brings a multitude of qualities. Shepherd’s ability to put up points and get boards at a high rate make him a top recruit. His overall skill set would fit nicely with Kansas, so it is good to see that we are pursuing this top 50 recruit.

Shepherd received a 247Sports rating of 97 and was ranked by the recruiting service as the 26th best in the nation. ESPN has him as 28th and gives him a Scout Grade of 89, while also ranking him as the third best center, the sixth best in Texas, and the 7th best in the Midlands.

The 35th best recruit in the nation, Karviar Shepherd is such a tough player on the inside and works his way with his strong elbows to get boards and tough out points. He is undoubtedly a top recruit and one teams would love to have with his style of play.

Former Kansas Jayhawks quarterback Brock Berglund was dismissed from the team by new head coach Charlie Weis (“former” is used loosely, since he never actually did anything at Kansas). The reason for this was missing a mandatory team meeting. Berglund, a Turner Gill recruit, didn’t have the best of times in Lawrence and was viewed by some as a headcase. However, Weis did treat him poorly and Berglund has the talent to be a successful quarterback and is still young and maturing. He did get into some legal trouble and was on the egotistical side and never set foot on the field for Kansas. In short, it’s good to see him gone, but I am one of those hoping that he can get things back on track.

Despite receiving interest from a few decent programs, Brock Berglund will enroll in a junior college. Next season, Berglund will likely be the starting quarterback for Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College.

There was a good chance that Berglund would have started somewhere, but the problem is that not as many teams were interested in him than he thought. Berglund also wanted to take things slowly, but the problem is that the longer you wait, the less of a chance you start or join a program. Due to that- and probably some other stuff- Berglund was unable to go to a D-I school and will instead play JUCO football in Arizona.

The talented passer had a 3.49 GPA while at Kansas. He will head on to junior college with the intent of taking a step back and re-evaluating things. That’s certainly a good thing for Brock Berglund, who needs to take a good look in the mirror. He definitely wants to play D-I in the future and has that ability, but it’s time to take some good self evaluation and change things up to become a better teammate. He is working to become a better player and works out harder, but Berglund needs to get the mental side of the game right and needs to cut down on his mistakes both on and off the field.

Tyler Tezeno has been offered by Arizona State, Boise State, Indiana, LSU, Northwestern, New Mexico, Rice, and Tulsa. He also received interest from Texas Tech, the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State, Arkansas, and Baylor.

The popular 6’3″, 285 pound guard has a 4.0 GPA, a 1550 SAT score, can run a 5.1 forty, has a 4.67 shuttle time, and Tezeno also has a 25-inch vertical.

The West Virginia commit is a solid three-star recruit who adds talent to the interior. Scout ranks him as the tenth best center in the class, while Tyler Tezeno is ranked by 247Sports as the 15th best guard. ESPN gives him a Scout Grade of 76 and ranks him as one of the top 50 at his position (guard) and a top 100 2013 recruit in the state of Texas.

Meanwhile, 247Sports has Tezeno has the 53rd best recruit in Texas and gave him a rating of 89 which is a high-line three-star recruit. Tezeno is certainly talented and is one of the best interior offensive linemen in the Midlands with his strength and physical run blocking.

The rising recruit received plenty of interest in one of the biggest programs in the nation in LSU, and this was a big commitment for West Virginia. The site viewed WVU as the most likely landing spot for Tyler Tezeno, and the three-star recruit has joined one of the newest members of the Big 12.

He is an excellent run blocker, as he pushes linemen off of the line with his strength and high intensity. Tezeno has a strong upper body with hands that latch on to DLs, and he is truly a mauler as a run blocker with his above-average size and athleticism.

Tyler Tezeno told 247Sports that playing in the Big 12 is a good help, “The move to the Big 12 definitely helped, too. That way my family can see more of my games.” Mountaineers head coach Dana Holgorsen was excited to hear about his sixth commitment, and Tezeno likes the coaching staff there and told 247Sports that the team was always in his mind since the day the Mountaineers offered him.
