Kansas football has a real shot at landing four-star recruit Keon Coleman, who listed the Jayhawks as one of his top three options.

Kansas football doesn’t get many opportunities to land four-star recruits, so when they do, they need to make their chances count. Les Miles and the Jayhawks have a real opportunity to land Keon Coleman, a four-star wide receiver who’s more than just a football player.

Coleman also has D-1 basketball talent, and he has received a few offers. The possibility of playing basketball in addition to football at Kansas has to be on his mind, and maybe a reason he listed the Jayhawks in his top three choices along with Oklahoma and South Carolina.

On the gridiron, Coleman holds offers from the previous three teams mentioned in addition to Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Louisville, Penn State, Michigan State, Baylor, and many others. The fact that Kansas football made the top three for Coleman is honestly an accomplishment in itself, and it does speak to Les Miles and his staff.

There’s a difference between being in contention for a recruit though and landing the recruit. Coleman hasn’t set a commitment date yet, so it could be a while until we hear where what his decision is.

Here is Coleman’s post announcing his top three schools:

Now, Kansas will really have to try and separate themselves from both Oklahoma and South Carolina, and one way they can do that is by selling both their head football and basketball coaches. Both Les Miles and Bill Self have won national titles, so Coleman would have the unique opportunity to play for two great coaches who’ve got rings.

While there doesn’t seem to be an outright favorite, Oklahoma does have a single Crystal Ball prediction in their favor. Steve Robertson, a Mississippi State insider logged the pick and so far Robertson is 11-for-11 on the class of 2021 and 102-for-132 all-time.

Take that as you may, but there’s no denying that Kansas football really does have a shot here.
