As we continue our look at Kansas Basketball Recruiting, we move on from the point guards to the wings. Michael Porter, Jr. is the top target on the board, but who else is Kansas watching?

After some positive feedback to our “tiers” approach to looking at the 2017 recruiting targets, we’re going to continue on with assigning each player a tier from 1 to 3. Tier 1 means that player is a top priority, as Trae Young is in our point guards article. Tier 1 will typically have only a small handful of players, while Tiers 2 and 3 are further down the board and should have a list of most of the guys Kansas has extended offers to.

For the wings section, we are considering any perimeter-only player that is not considered a point guard – i.e. no combo or stretch forwards. Also, we should make note that this is strictly for 2017 recruits, so we aren’t taking into account any potential transfer guards or wings.

In terms of scholarships, Kansas will most likely be losing Josh Jackson along with seniors Frank Mason and Landen Lucas. At this point, we’re operating under the assumption that they will also lose at least one of Devonte Graham or Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. There are still two open scholarships in the 2016 class, where Kansas is pursuing Derryck Thornton and a few other transfer candidates. Typically, Head Coach Bill Self does not leave scholarships open, so let’s also assume those scholarships are filled moving forward.

That leaves Kansas looking to fill at least four scholarships, and potentially as many as six depending on other factors. We are under the impression that at least one point guard will be taken in this class, and at least one big man, so the potential to bring in multiple wings is there.

With the logistics above out of the way, let’s get to it.
