The week leading up to Kansas basketball season has been an eventful one. Here’s some of the news you might have missed.

More from Kansas Jayhawks Basketball

Allen Fieldhouse turns 60 this season. In honor of its anniversary, the four coaches who are still living made the journey back. Fansided’s Talking 12 pulled together some of the best quotes from the evening:

"“If you love basketball. If you love and respect the history of the game, every road leads back to Lawrence, Kansas,” Bilas said in his opening remarks, which were captured in a news article published on the KU athletic website.“This building has a soul, it’s a cathedral of college basketball,” Bilas continued, “It’s the ultimate bucket list place for every player, every coach, every fan, every official…everyone.”"

Chip Rouse over at Fansided’s Talking 12 did a Big 12 Conference Overview with the Jayhawks on top:

"“The Kansas Jayhawks are favored by many college basketball experts to make it 11 straight conference championships in 2014-15 despite losing two key starters from last season’s team. First-year players Andrew Wiggins and Joel Embiid were taken No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, in this year’s NBA Draft. The Jayhawks won’t go unchallenged this season with Iowa State again loaded,Texas returning all five starters from the 2013-14 team and Oklahoma and Kansas State again expected to put strong teams on the court.”"

Nathan Giese for Fansided’s Hoops Habit looked at all the nonconference matchups in all of college basketball. Kansas makes the list not once, but twice with games against top ranked Kentucky and highly ranked Florida.

"“Florida and Kansas will be doing battle as a rematch from last year’s great contest, one that saw the senior-laden Gators upend up young Jayhawks led by two top 2014 NBA draft picks. Each sees its team as being much different than last season, though they still have the same values.Kansas will be focusing on getting their young players better and giving them experience. Kelly Oubre and Devonte Graham, the two freshmen expect to start for Kansas, will have a lot of attention on them, but Wayne Selden Jr. and Perry Ellis are also expected to have solid years as well.Florida will be using its youth and talent to overcome the losses of the four seniors that led them to the Final Four last season. The Gators have a solid starting five going for them but it’ll be the play of Chris Walker that determines how good they can be this season.”"

Fansided’s D’Joumbarey A. Moreau wrote an editorial piece on why Wayne Selden, Jr. will be the key to victory for Kansas this season.

"“Simply put, Selden Jr is one of the most underrated players in college basketball. Last season as a freshman, Selden was projected as a NBA Draft lottery pick, and often times looked like the best player on the court for Kansas. Scary to think someone other than Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins looked like the best player on the court and still managed to stay in college another year. However following his offseason knee surgery, Selden Jr. is now projected as a late first round, to early second round pick, for terrible reasons beyond measure.”"
