Three star Defensive End Kapil Fletcher committed to the University of Kansas Sunday afternoon, becoming the 15th Jayhawk commitment for the 2014-2015 season.
Fletcher is a 6-4, 260 pound prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Florida who played his previous season of football at Hartnell Community College in Salinas, California. Fletcher is the 4th community college transfer Kansas has landed this season.
According to ESPN.com Insider scouting report, Fletcher’s strengths include his ability to hold his ground and set the edge off the line. He is also able to extend his hands and maintain separation, while displaying good awareness and lateral mobility. If Fletcher can’t get to the ball off the line, he shows the awareness to use his hands in the passing lanes. Fletcher plays with good effort and pursue’s the ball.
Fletcher’s areas of improvement are geared around his quickness and speed. Fletcher struggles with getting off blocks in a timely fashion and also lacks bend and closing speed for an edge rusher. Described as having average quickness and speed for his size.
The bottom line on Kapil Fletcher is that he doesn’t jump off the charts in any single aspect of the game, but rather will be a well-rounded player to help an FBS defensive line.
Fletcher commits to Kansas over Colorado, Hawaii, and others according to multiple reports.
